I caved.
I left the big box curriculum today to explain liquid measurements. Pints, cups, quarts, and gallons need to be seen to be understood. I knew I had seen a "Mr. Gallon" before so I Google(d) him! And thanks to Google I found www.imageck.com.

4th grade math suddenly became so clear and fun the my 2nd and 6th graders joined in :-)

What a smart way of showing measurements in a tangible way.
ReplyDeleteI didn't learn them until I started canning as an adult!

Lol! I find myself learning many things as I "school" the boys :-)
DeleteI saw a guy on "Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader" do some odd hand gestures down his arms, etc. to figure out how many pints in a gallon. He said he learned a trick in school. I had no idea what he was doing, but it probably had some relation to this Mr. Gallon. I'll have to show this to my daughter.
